Regular Season Round 23: Capitalinas - Camaguey 74-66

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Capitalinas (17-5) defeated at home 6th ranked Camaguey (8-15) 74-66. Camaguey was ahead by 10 points after three quarters before a 29-11 charge of Capitalinas, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Camaguey 42-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Camaguey's players. Center Zuleira Atis (190-80) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international center Klavdia Calvo (186-83) contributed with 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Capitalinas' coach Ernesto Wright allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International forward Leidis Oquendo (180-82) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Betsy Herrera (168-94) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Camaguey. Capitalinas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-5 record having five points less than leader Pinar del Rio. Camaguey at the other side keeps the sixth position with 15 games lost. Capitalinas will again play against Camaguey (#6) in the next round. Camaguey will have a break next round.
