Second Stage Round 2: Gornik - Alba Chorzow 98-81

No shocking result in a game in Walbrzych where Gornik (7-3) defeated Alba Chorzow (2-8) 98-81 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gornik. Alba Chorzow was better in second period 27-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Gornik especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Alba Chorzow's players. The best player for the winners was Bartlomiej Ratajczak (197-91) who scored 27 points. The former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (210-93) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Lukasz Wojcik (189-84) produced 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and power forward Marcin Weselak (204-79) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Gornik and four Alba Chorzow players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Gornik will face Mickiewicz (#6) in Katowice in the next round. Alba Chorzow will play on the road against Nysa Klodzko (#3) in Kloszko and hope to win that game.
