Second Stage Round 11: Rasai - Vilniaus 79-84

Date: February 21, 2015
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Vilniaus (13-22) beat 11th ranked Rasai (15-19) in Raseiniai 84-79. Rasai was ahead by 9 points at the halftime before a 32-14 third quarter run of Vilniaus. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Rasai's 38. They outrebounded Rasai 42-29 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Ignas Dauksys (197-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Jermaine Love-Roberts (188-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Valdemaras Savostjanovas (200-84) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds and center Karolis Guscikas (205-92) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rasai's coach Albertas Vilimas tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Vilniaus maintains twelfth place with 13-22 record. Rasai at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Vilniaus will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rasai will play at home against Delikatesas (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
