Very important is a road loss of third ranked Dragonflies (15-18) against fifth ranked Toyota Alvark (20-14) on Sunday night. Visiting Dragonflies unexpectedly were crushed by in Tokyo 66-86. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Dragonflies' 30. Toyota Alvark forced 19 Dragonflies turnovers. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) notched 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds by Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) did not help to save the game for Dragonflies. The former international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) added 13 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota Alvark have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 20-14 record. Dragonflies lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the third place with 18 games lost. Toyota Alvark will play against Wakayama T. (#5) at home in the next round. Dragonflies will play against the league's leader Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
