Regular Season Round 12: Avantazh-Pol. - Zaporozhye 91-86

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Zaporozhye (10-6) against fourth ranked Avantazh-Politekhnik (11-7) on Sunday night. Visiting Zaporozhye was defeated by Avantazh-Politekhnik in a tough game in Kharkov 86-91. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Zaporozhye trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 19-11 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 86-91 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Roman Kozlov (191-90) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and forward Anton Mikhailov (197-91) who added 14 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Five Avantazh-Politekhnik players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Anton Buts (201-88) with 32 points and 9 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and swingman Yaroslav Fomichev (196-94) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Avantazh-Politekhnik have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Avangard. Newly promoted Zaporozhye dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Avantazh-Politekhnik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zaporozhye will play against VolinBasket (#6) in Lutsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
