Regular Season Round 11: Batumi - MIA Academy 84-83

The most exciting game of round 11 in the Superleague took place in Batumi. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-ranked MIA (8-3) to fifth ranked Batumi (5-6) 84-83 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of MIA. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 25-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard B.J. Young (191-93, college: Arkansas) who scored 38 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import center Chris Pelcher (208-91, college: New Hampshire) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). International center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 24 points respectively for the guests. Batumi maintains fifth place with 5-6 record. MIA at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Kutaisi. Batumi are looking forward to face higher ranked Energy Invest (#4) in Rustavi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MIA's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Olimpi.
