Cairns overwhelmed the Wildcats in Perth to sweep the semifinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Cairns Taipans. Perth Wildcats managed to win third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Scottie Wilbekin (188-92, college: Florida) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international power forward Alexander Loughton (206-83, college: ODU) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Mary) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Jermaine Beal (191-87, college: Vanderbilt) added 21 points and 4 assists in the effort for Perth Wildcats.
