Regular Season Round 36: Toshiba BT - Kumamoto V. 84-63

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Kumamoto V. (4-31) was smashed by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (26-10) in Kanagawa 84-63 on Sunday. Toshiba Thunders made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who scored that evening 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by American swingman Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU) did not help to save the game for Kumamoto V.. Keita Takata added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 26-10 record having three points less than leader Hitachi SR. Kumamoto V. lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with 31 games lost. They share the position with Wakayama T.. Toshiba Thunders will meet Hyogo S. (#4) on the road in the next round. Kumamoto V. will play against Toyota Alvark and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
