Regular Season Round 25: Cuxhaven - Heidelberg 100-88

We should mention about the upset which took place in Cuxhaven, where higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (13-12) lost to fifteenth ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (8-17) in a road game 88-100 on Sunday. Cuxhaven BasCats made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Cuxhaven BasCats looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by MLP Academics Heidelberg's players. Swingman Dennis Nawrocki (193-92) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 assists for the winners and American guard Aaron Cook (186-83, college: Hartford) chipped in 15 points and 15 assists. At the losing side American guard Bradley Tinsley (191-89, college: Vanderbilt) responded with 29 points and 4 assists and naturalized American center Waverly Austin (211-91, college: Oregon) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cuxhaven BasCats. They moved-up to fourteenth place. MLP Academics Heidelberg lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with ETB Wohnbau and Hamburg. Cuxhaven BasCats will meet higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against ETB Wohnbau (#6) in Essen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
