Regular Season Round 40: Sendai 89ers - Tokyo Cinq R. 98-75

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (24-14) smashed at home 11th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (5-31) 98-75 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Sendai 89ers. Tokyo Cinq R. was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sendai 89ers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 40. Sendai 89ers forced 23 Tokyo Cinq R. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: KMG Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who added 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American center Will Foster (226-88, college: Gonzaga) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks and Bahamas forward Zane Knowles (208-92, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: Blacktop Management) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Tokyo Cinq R. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers maintains fourth position with 24-14 record, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. keeps the eleventh place with 31 games lost. Sendai 89ers will face Fukushima (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Tokyo Cinq R. will play against the league's leader Iwate Big Bulls and hope to win that game.
