Regular Season Round 18: Ovarense - Alges 57-66

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Ovarense (9-9) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Alges (9-9) 66-57 on Saturday. Ovarense trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 16-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 57-66 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Antonio Pires (185-86) who scored 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Darren Townes (201-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Jaime Silva (187-80) who recorded 23 points and the former international forward Miguel Miranda (205-78) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Alges moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ovarense and Lusitania. Alges will face league's second-placed Vitoria SC in Guimaraes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ovarense will play on the road against Oliveirense in Oliveira and hope to win that game.
