Regular Season Round 16: Rabotnicki - Karpos Sokoli 89-65

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Skopje: Rabotnicki (#2) and Karpos Sokoli (#3). Rabotnicki (11-3) smashed visiting Karpos Sokoli (9-5) by 24 points 89-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Karpos Sokoli. It looked good early as Karpos Sokoli took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rabotnicki had a 19-10 second period charge getting the lead and Karpos Sokoli was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-89. Rabotnicki had a 32-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Gjorgi Cekovski (203-79) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Todor Gecevski (209-77, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Rabotnicki players scored in double figures. American Darius Rice (208-82, college: Miami, FL) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and Serbian point guard Igor Mijajlovic (194-84, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 18 points in the effort for Karpos Sokoli. Rabotnicki keeps a position of league leader, which they share with MZT Skopje. Karpos Sokoli at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Feni Indistrija and Kumanovo. Rabotnicki will play against Kumanovo 2009 (#4) on the road in the next round. Karpos Sokoli's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Skopje MZT Skopje.
