Regular Season Round 22: Snaefell - Grindavik 91-89

A very close game took place in Stykkisholmur (derby !!!) between Snaefell and Grindavik. Ninth ranked Snaefell (9-13) got a very close home victory over 6th ranked Grindavik (11-11). Snaefell managed to escape with a 2-point win 91-89 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Grindavik. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-89. American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Sigurdur Thorvaldsson (201-80) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson (192-96) scored 25 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Five Snaefell and four Grindavik players scored in double figures. Grindavik's coach Sverrir Sverrisson tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Snaefell maintains ninth position with 9-13 record. Loser Grindavik keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Keflavik and Thor Thorl.
