Regular Season Round 2: Manati - Humacao 90-71

Date: March 12, 2015
No shocking result in a game when Manati (1-0) crushed at home Caciques (0-2) 90-71 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Manati. Caciques was better in third quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Manati dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Caciques' 32 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The former international swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 6 assists. International power forward Ricardo Sanchez (212-87) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Manati players scored in double figures. American forward Dan Jennings (206-90, college: Long Beach St.) replied with 15 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Ansel Guzman (174-84) added 9 points and 4 assists in the effort for Caciques. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Manati will face Maratonistas in Coamo in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Caciques will play on the road against Cangrejeros (#9) in Santurce and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
