There was no surprise when 11th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (10-14) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Mogi (17-7) 89-79 on Friday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mogi made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Sao Jose/Vinac was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Paulo Prestes (211-88) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Mogi players scored in double figures. Mogi's coach Francisco Garcia used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Jordanian swingman Jimmy Baxter (193-80, college: S.Florida) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and the former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Mogi maintains fourth position with 17-7 record. Sao Jose/Vinac lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 14 games lost.
