Regular Season Round 27: Baunach - Ehingen 100-85

Very expected game when 16th ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (5-22) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Baunach (12-15) 100-85 on Friday. Ehingen/Urspringschule was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Baunach made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Johannes Thiemann (203-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. Andreas Obst (192-96, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 22 points. The best for the losing side was Joey Ney (198-92) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) scored 21 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Baunach moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Vechta and Kirchheim. Loser Ehingen/Urspringschule stay dead last with 22 lost games. Baunach will face league's second-placed Nuernberg in Nurnberg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ehingen/Urspringschule will play at home against Kirchheim Knights (#11) and hope to win that game.
