Leader Marinos delivered the eleventh victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Gigantes (5-8) 77-64 in Puerto La Cruz. The game was mostly controlled by Marinos. Gigantes managed to win third quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Marinos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American swingman Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and American center Andrew Feeley (206-83, college: UMBC, agency: Promotex) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Marinos (11-2) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Gigantes lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Marinos will again meet at home Gigantes (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gigantes will have a break next round.
