Regular Season Round 24: Canarias - Avila 51-66

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (13-10) won against 11th ranked Canarias (8-14) in Gran Canaria 66-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Fontedoso Carrefour. Canarias was better in second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Canarias 46-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fontedoso Carrefour made 8 blocks. It was a good game for American forward Mike Duty (198-87, college: W.Washington) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import forward Tyrone Nared (203-88, college: Oregon) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Kaleb Wright (193, college: Emporia St.) replied with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Dutch power forward Luuk Van Bree (203-96) added 4 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Canarias. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fontedoso Carrefour have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Canarias dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Fontedoso Carrefour will face Cambados (#9) at home in the next round. Canarias will play against FC Barcelona II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
