Regular Season Round 129: New York K. - San Antonio S. 104-100 OT

Date: March 17, 2015
This is the month for upsets and we now have our first improbable victory of March. The Knicks rallied from a 13-point deficit to stun the defending NBA champion Spurs, 104-100, in overtime Tuesday night at the Garden. The Spurs were without Manu Ginobili, but Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard were all on the floor for the final minutes of regulation and overtime. Gregg Popovich called it a 'pathetic performance and was upset that his team 'didn't respect the game and we didn't respect the opponent. The five-time championship coach also praised Derek Fisher for how he has conducted himself during a 'difficult year. The win was the Knicks' most impressive performance since they beat the Cavs in LeBron James' home opener. Wednesday's result also said plenty about the Spurs, who sit in seventh place in the Western Conference and who have not looked nearly as sharp as they have in previous years when made back-to-back NBA Finals appearances. The Spurs shot 38 percent from the field and gave up 54 seconds half points. Langston Galloway led the Knicks (14-53) with 22 points, Alexey Shved added 21, and Lou Amundson finished with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Duncan scored 17 for the Spurs but missed a potential game-tying free throw with nine seconds remaining in overtime. Tony Parker scored 21 points on 20 shots and Leonard, last year's Finals MVP, added 13 points on 3 for 9 shooting. The win improved the Knicks record to 14-53 and they are just a half-game ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who come to the Garden on Thursday, for the league's worst record.
