Regular Season Round 5: Quebradillas - Manati 65-91
Date: March 18, 2015
There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Manati (2-2) crushed on the road 7th ranked Quebradillas (2-3) 91-65 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Manati led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Manati outrebounded Quebradillas 42-27 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Quebradillas' players. International power forward Ricardo Sanchez (212-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Weyinmi Rose contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Manati players scored in double figures. American forward Tyler Wilkerson (203-88, college: Marshall) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Peruvian forward Luis Ramirez (187) added 14 points in the effort for Quebradillas. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Manati moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Quebradillas dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Manati will face higher ranked Atleticos (#6) in San German in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Quebradillas will play on the road against Caciques in Humacao and hope to win that game.
