Quarter-Finals Round 1: KR - Grindavik 71-65

Date: March 19, 2015
KR fired past Grindavik to spur ahead in the quarterfinal series. Grindavik trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 25-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 65-71 at the end of the game. KR had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when KR made 9 blocks. 27 personal fouls committed by Grindavik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for the former international Helgi Magnusson (197-82, college: Catawba) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU) contributed with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Four KR players scored in double figures. American forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Thorleifur Olafsson (192-84) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Grindavik. Grindavik's coach Sverrir Sverrisson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
