Regular Season Round 40: Hyogo S. - Hitachi SR 73-101

There was no surprise when 4th ranked Hyogo S. (14-26) was outplayed at home by first ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (36-7) 101-73 on Saturday. The game without a history. Hitachi Sunrockers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Hyogo S.'s 44. They outrebounded Hyogo S. 51-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: APAA Sports Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: Cal Merced) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import swingman William Knight (196-79, college: UCLA) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 36-7 record. Hyogo S. lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 26 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round where they are favorite. Hyogo S. will play at home against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and hope to win that game.
