Regular Season Round 40: Mitsubishi DD - Toshiba BT 87-82

The game between Top Four teams took place in Nagoya. Second ranked host Mitsubishi Dolphins (25-15) defeated one of their biggest challengers Toshiba Thunders (29-11)The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But Toshiba Thunders won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and American forward Brendan Lane (206-90, college: Pepperdine) who added 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) scored 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Toshiba Thunders' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mitsubishi Dolphins have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 25-15 record having eleven points less than leader Hitachi SR. Defending champion Toshiba Thunders keep the third place with 11 games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins will face Dragonflies (#3) in Hiroshima in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Toshiba Thunders will play on the road against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
