The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Atleticos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Atleticos edged 12th ranked Caciques in San German 92-90 in overtime. Caciques were ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 29-21 charge of Atleticos, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 11-9. Atleticos brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. International forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Atleticos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Ruben Cotto (182-89, college: St.Louis) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Ollie Bailey (201-85, college: Oklahoma City) added 19 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Caciques. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Caciques lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with six games lost. Caciques will play next round against Indios trying to get back on the winning streak. Atleticos will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Maratonistas at Coamo.
