1/8 Finals Round 3: Rist Wedel - Schwelm 90-71

Rist Wedel stormed into the quarterfinal stage following a comfortable home win over Schwelm. SC Rist Wedel brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 28 personal fouls committed by SG Schwelmer Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) who led his team to a victory with 30 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. His fellow American import swingman Brandon Spearman (190-91, college: Hawaii) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Canadian swingman Chris Johnson (196-88, college: St.Bonaventure) answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Max Kramer (192-89) added 12 points in the effort for SG Schwelmer Baskets. Four SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
