Eighth-ranked Orchesien BC (14-12) gave a tough game to third ranked Boulazac Basket (19-8) in Orchies on Saturday. The visitors from Boulazac managed to secure only one-point victory 75-74. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was Meredis Houmounou (188-88) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. British Ovie Soko (201-91, college: Duquesne) chipped in 16 points. Four Boulazac Basket players scored in double figures. Guard Pierric Poupet (191-84) produced 19 points and 4 assists and swingman Rodrigue Mels (190-85, college: CS Northridge, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Boulazac Basket maintains third position with 19-8 record behind leader Hyeres-Toulon. Loser Orchesien BC dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Boulazac Basket will meet at home Souffelweyersheim (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Orchesien BC will play against Chorale de Roanne (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
