Regular Season Round 25: AZS Koszalin - Polpharma 82-90

Very important is a home loss of third ranked AZS Koszalin (18-7) against sixteenth ranked Polpharma (6-19) on Saturday night. Host AZS Koszalin was defeated by Polpharma in a tough game in Koszalin 82-90. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AZS Koszalin. It looked good early as AZS Koszalin took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Polpharma had a 21-14 second period charge getting the lead and AZS Koszalin was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-90. Polpharma shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. American point guard Anthony Miles (185-89, college: Lamar) stepped up and scored 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international swingman Grzegorz Kukielka (191-83, agency: Promotex) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Qyntel Woods (202-81, college: N.Mississippi JC) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international power forward Szymon Szewczyk (209-82) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Polpharma moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Stabill Jezioro. AZS Koszalin at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Polpharma will play against higher ranked Asseco (#7) in Gdynia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS Koszalin will play on the road against the league's second-placed PGE Turow (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
