Rather expected game in La Guaira where 6th ranked Trotamundos (9-6) were defeated by fourth ranked Bucaneros (13-6) 86-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. Bucaneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) fired 20 points for the winners. His fellow American import forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati, agency: Tycoon Sports Inc.) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Bucaneros players scored in double figures. Power forward Jesus Martinez (204-86) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international Dwight Lewis (197-87, college: USC) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bucaneros moved-up to second place. Trotamundos lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Bucaneros will again meet at home Trotamundos (#6) in the next round. Trotamundos will have a break next round.
