Regular Season Round 10: Humacao - Arecibo 67-90

Leader Capitanes delivered the seventh victory. This time they crushed 12th ranked Caciques (1-9) 90-67 in Humacao. It looked good early as Caciques took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Capitanes had a 22-16 second period charge getting the lead and Caciques were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-90. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Caciques' 34. They outrebounded Caciques 42-30 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Capitanes players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Renaldo Balkman (203-84, college: S.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Ollie Bailey (201-85, college: Oklahoma City) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Belizean-American power forward Noel Felix (205-81, college: Fresno St.) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Caciques. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitanes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-2 record. Caciques lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Capitanes will play against league's second-placed Maratonistas in Coamo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Caciques will play on the road against Brujos (#9) in Guayama to get more than just one victory in their record.
