Second Stage Round 7: Alba Chorzow - Gornik 61-79

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Gornik (10-5) defeated on the road 10th ranked Alba Chorzow (3-13) 79-61 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gornik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a very good performance for Rafal Niesobski (189-82) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!). The former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (210-93) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Marcin Weselak (204-79) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and forward Tomasz Milewski (201-78) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Alba Chorzow. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Newly promoted Gornik maintains third place in Group F with 10-5 record having four points less than leader AZS AWF K-ce. Loser Alba Chorzow keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Gornik will face Mickiewicz (#5) in Katowice in the next round. Alba Chorzow will play at home against the league's second-placed Nysa Klodzko (#2) and hope to win that game.
