Regular Season Round 47: Iwate Big Bulls - Aomori Watts 80-69
Date: March 28, 2015
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Aomori Watts (23-22) were defeated on the road by first ranked Iwate Big Bulls (36-9) 80-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Iwate Big Bulls. Aomori Watts was better in second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aomori Watts to just 6 points in first quarter. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Iwate Big Bulls made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. American power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and guard Yuki Kitamuki (184-85) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iwate Big Bulls have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 36-9 record, which they share with Okinawa GK. Aomori Watts at the other side keep the sixth position with 22 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will face again Aomori Watts (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
