Regular Season Round 29: Phoenix Hagen - MBC 65-70

Date: April 2, 2015
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Phoenix Hagen (11-18) lost at home to thirteenth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (12-18) 70-65 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 20-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Mitteldeutscher BC outrebounded Phoenix Hagen 41-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Phoenix Hagen was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian power forward Djordje Pantelic (204-84) contributed with 9 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Mitteldeutscher BC's coach Silvano Poropat used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard David Bell (187-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Niklas Geske (188-94) added 17 points and 4 steals in the effort for Phoenix Hagen. Mitteldeutscher BC moved-up to twelfth place. Loser Phoenix Hagen dropped to the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC will face higher ranked Artland Dragons (#10) in Quakenbrueck in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Phoenix Hagen will play on the road against the league's second-placed ALBA Berlin and will have a slim chance for a victory.
