Cognac BB (10-20) outlasted Rueil (16-14) in overtime by five points 114-109 on Saturday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 32-21. But Rueil won second period 27-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Rueil used huge pressure winning it 26-18 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 11-16. Cognac BB made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Cognac BB looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Paul Turpin (190-93) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. American guard Hugh Robertson (195-89, college: S.Florida) chipped in 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five Cognac BB players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville, agency: Comsport) who recorded 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists and Serbian forward Nikola Gacesa (206-87, college: TCU) added 24 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Cognac BB maintains fifteenth position with 10-20 record. Loser Rueil keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. Cognac BB will meet at home higher ranked La Rochelle (#12) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rueil will play against CFBB and hope to secure a win.
