Regular Season Round 20: Sampaense - CAB Madeira 96-85

Bottom-ranked Sampaense managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the six-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked CAB Madeira in Coimbra 96-85. The game was mostly controlled by Sampaense. CAB Madeira managed to win second period 17-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Strangely CAB Madeira outrebounded Sampaense 42-28 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Diogo Ventura (189-94, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman Kendall Timmons (195-90, college: Tulane, agency: Dynamics Global Management) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: Savannah St.) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and the former international Jorge Coelho (200-78) added 25 points respectively for the guests. Five Sampaense and four CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. Sampaense (5-15) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Illiabum. CAB Madeira lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Sampaense will meet league's second-placed Vitoria SC in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CAB Madeira will play against Maia Basket (#9) and hope to secure a win.
