Regular Season Round 26: Wikana-Start - Slask Wroclaw 70-91

Very expected game in Lublin where 13th ranked Wikana Start (7-19) was crushed by fifth ranked Slask (18-8) 91-70. It looked good early as Wikana Start took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Slask had a 32-14 second period charge getting the lead and Wikana Start was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-91. Slask dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Wikana Start's 28. 24 personal fouls committed by Wikana Start helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Roderick Trice (185-84, college: S.Carolina) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian center Aleksandar Mladenovic (207-84, agency: BeoExcell) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American center Robert Lewandowski (208-89, college: Texas Tech) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds and guard Piotr Smigielski (195-89) added 11 points and 7 assists in the effort for Wikana Start. Five Slask and four Wikana Start players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slask have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with AZS Koszalin and Rosa Radom. Newly promoted Wikana Start keeps the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Slask's next round opponent will be MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#11) at home and are hoping to win another game. Wikana Start will play against AZS Koszalin and hope to win that game.
