Quarter-Finals Round 1: UBA - Tadamon 102-77

Byblos fired past Tadamon in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by UBA. Tadamon was better in fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Tadamon's 42. They outrebounded Tadamon 61-23 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. UBA players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Tadamon's players. Bosnian-Serbian power forward Ratko Varda (212-79, agency: Beo Basket) nailed 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international power forward Ali Kanaan (207-85, college: Mass.-Lowell) accounted for 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four UBA players scored in double figures. UBA's coach Nenad Vucinic felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward John Assi (193-94) came up with 26 points and 6 rebounds and Jamaican-American guard Corey Williams (191-77, college: Alabama St.) added 23 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Tadamon in the defeat.
