Regular Season Round 44: Toshiba BT - Wakayama T. 100-62

Everything went according to plan in Kanagawa where third ranked Toshiba Thunders (34-13) outleveled 7th ranked Wakayama T. (5-43) 100-62 on Friday. The game without a history. Toshiba Thunders led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Wakayama T. 44-33 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toshiba Thunders made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) chipped in 21 points. Toshiba Thunders' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) produced 27 points and 8 rebounds and Nigerian center Cyril Awere (211-85) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Toshiba Thunders have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 34-13 record having five points less than leader Hitachi SR. Wakayama T. lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 43 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Kumamoto V. (#5) on the road in the next round. Wakayama T. will play against Toyota Alvark and hope to win that game.
