No shocking result in a game in Ilhavo where third ranked Barcelos (13-8) defeated 11th ranked Illiabum (5-16) 75-70 on Saturday. Illiabum was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 24-15 charge of Barcelos, which allowed them to win the game. Naturalized Montenegrin forward Marko Loncovic (202-91) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Serbian swingman Igor Djukovic (202-87) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Angolan forward Sergio Correia (198-85) with 25 points and Serbian swingman Bogdan Riznic (202-90) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Illiabum's coach Ricardo Vasconcelos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Barcelos maintains third place with 13-8 record having six points less than leader Benfica. Newly promoted Illiabum keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. They share it with Sampaense. Barcelos will meet at home CAB Madeira (#6) in the next round. Illiabum will play against Ovarense (#5) and hope to secure a win.
