Macae used overtime to silence Minas on the road tying things up at 1-1 in the series. Minas cut a 20-point halftime deficit to tie the game at the end of regular time. But they lost overtime period 9-10. Macae dominated on the defensive end, holding Minas to just 7 points in first quarter. They made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. 28 personal fouls committed by Minas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) saved the victory by scoring 23 points and 4 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Eddy Carvalho (196-87) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Macae players scored in double figures. Macae's coach Leonardo Costa used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-94) replied with 26 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international power forward Shilton Santos (198-82) added 7 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Minas.
