Regular Season Round 34: Gussing - Zepter Vienna 92-72

There was a change at the A Bundesliga leadership position after last games. Round 34 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Zepter Vienna (24-10). They were crushed by second ranked Gussing Knights (24-10) 92-72 on Monday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zepter Vienna. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Gussing Knights led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gussing Knights outrebounded Zepter Vienna 36-19 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Marcus Heard (201-84, college: De Paul) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Heard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Gussing Knights' coach Matthias Zollner used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) responded with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Croatian forward Jasmin Perkovic (205-80) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Five Gussing Knights and four Zepter Vienna players scored in double figures. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Zepter Vienna. Zepter Vienna will play next round against Dukes trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Gussing Knights will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Arkadia Lions in Traiskirchen.
