The game in Oldenburg was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers ratiopharm Ulm (19-11) played at the court of sixth ranked EWE Baskets (17-13). EWE Baskets managed to secure a 8-point victory 74-66 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-9. But ratiopharm Ulm won third quarter 26-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Casper Ware (178-90, college: Long Beach St.) who scored 24 points. Serbian power forward Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-87) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Greek power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis) who recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Per Guenther (185-88) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. EWE Baskets maintains sixth position with 17-13 record. Loser ratiopharm Ulm dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. EWE Baskets will meet Mitteldeutscher BC (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. ratiopharm Ulm will play against the league's leader ALBA Berlin (#1) and hope to secure a win.
