Regular Season Round 7: Navolato - Caborca 108-85

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Mineros de Caborca (2-5) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (4-3) 108-85 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 108-85. Garra Canera de Navolato outrebounded Mineros de Caborca 48-28 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Garra Canera de Navolato especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Mike Anderson (201-86, college: VCU) fired a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Darrien Mack (200-91, college: Eckerd) chipped in a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Worth to mention Anderson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Garra Canera de Navolato's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Paul Jones (198-89, college: W.Washington) produced 26 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Franco Harris (182-83, college: Boise St.) added 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Four Mineros de Caborca players scored in double figures. Garra Canera de Navolato moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Mineros de Caborca at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Garra Canera de Navolato will face again Mineros de Caborca (#7) in Cananea in the next round.
