Vivo/Franca overcame Palmeiras in the decisive fifth game of the series and paved their way into NBB quarterfinals. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Palmeiras won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vivo/Franca dominated on the defensive end, holding Palmeiras to just 6 points in second quarter. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Palmeiras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Argentinian Marcos Mata (201-86) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Vivo/Franca's coach Aluisio Xavier Ferreira used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fabricio Russo (196-85) answered with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Gianella (186-78) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Palmeiras.
