Second Stage Round 9: AZS UMCS - Trefl II Sopot 74-52

There was no surprise in Lublin where 10th ranked Trefl II Sopot (1-15) was crushed by seventh ranked AZS UMCS (7-9) 74-52 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by AZS UMCS. Trefl II Sopot was better in fourth quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Trefl II Sopot to just 7 points in second quarter. AZS UMCS forced 19 Trefl II Sopot turnovers and outrebounded them 45-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Dawid Mysliwiec (195-88) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Mateusz Wisniewski (202-91) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. AZS UMCS's coach Przemyslaw Luszczewski felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Pawel Krefft (188-96) who recorded 15 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Jakub Czyz (202-95) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Newly promoted AZS UMCS maintains seventh place in Group E with 7-9 record, which they share with AZS PGd. Trefl II Sopot lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. AZS UMCS will face AZS PGd (#8) in Gdansk in the next round. Trefl II Sopot will play at home against Wisla Krakow and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
