Cathay Life fired past Taiyuan in the opening game of the Finals. The game was mostly controlled by Cathay Life. Taiyuan Textile was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cathay Life players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Taiyuan Textile's players. The former international power forward Liu Chun-Yi (180-81) nailed 22 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international forward Ping-Chen Huang (178-89) accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward His-Yeh Liu (172-91) came up with 22 points and international guard Chi-Fang Chang (174-93) added 14 points respectively for Taiyuan Textile in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
