1/8 Finals Round 4: Dallas M. - Houston R. 121-109

Date: April 26, 2015
An early second half run led the Dallas Mavericks to a 121-109 win over the Houston Rockets, Sunday night, evading elimination, and forcing a Game 5 in Houston on Tuesday night. Houston leads the series, 3-1. The Mavs came out of halftime strong, building their eight-point advantage to 24, by the 4-minute mark of the frame. Monta Ellis had 10 points during a 20-2 run, as Dallas built an 81-57 edge. Al-Farouq Aminu continued his strong effort, drilling a corner three to spur the run, and JJ Barea hit a pair of jumpers to chip in as well. Ellis finished with a game-high 31 points, on 13-21 shooting. Barea filled up the stat sheet with 17 points and 13 assists, while Aminu followed suit, chipping in 16 points and 12 rebounds. The Mavs had to hold off a late rally by Houston - and Dirk Nowitzki was happy to oblige. He tallied 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, helping Dallas keep the Rockets at bay. James Harden led Houston with 24 points, on 7-15 shooting. Dwight Howard was far less dominant, scoring 13 points and grabbing seven boards. The opening ten minutes of the game were very evenly played, as both teams exchanged baskets, leading to a 24-23 Rockets edge with two minutes left in the first. Then an 8-0 Rockets run helped Houston build a 12-point lead early in the second quarter, 37-25. Dallas began turning the game around during the middle of the second frame. Five straight points from Monta Ellis cut a 10 point Rockets lead to 5, at 41-36. Then, back-to-back three-pointers from Charlie Villanueva and Al-Farouq Aminu cut the lead Houston to two, at 44-42. Tyson Chandler slammed home a Barea miss, and the game was tied at 44, marking the eleventh tie of the game. From there, the Mavs continued their barrage, straight until halftime. Another Villanueva three gave Dallas a 53-48 lead. Six straight Mavs points from Barea kept the pace, and a Tyson Chandler bucket just before half gave Dallas a 61-53 lead through 24 minutes. Barea and Al-Farouq Aminu started the game. Barea was tapped as the starting point guard, after Raymond Felton filled the role in Game 3. Rajon Rondo is not with the team, as he battles what the organization calls a back injury. Aminu started in the place of Richard Jefferson. Jefferson has battled a calf injury since the middle of Game 3. Jefferson did play, however, seeing 12 minutes. Game 4 is Tuesday night in Houston. Tip is at 7 pm. Courtesy of: wfaa.com
