Regular Season Round 47: Hitachi SR - Toyota Alvark 63-75
Date: April 29, 2015
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tokyo: Toyota Alvark (#4) and Hitachi Sunrockers (#1). Hitachi Sunrockers were defeated at home 63-75 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Hitachi Sunrockers managed to win fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hitachi Sunrockers to just 7 points in second quarter. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota Alvark made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 21 rebounds and 7 blocks. The former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) helped adding 19 points and 4 assists. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. American power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: APAA Sports Group) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Toyota Alvark (38-14) have an impressive series of twenty one victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers still keep top position with nine games lost. Toyota Alvark will meet at home league's second-placed Tochigi Brex in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and hope to secure a win.
