Canada claimed the FIBA Americas Championship crown. They outgunned Cuba in Edmonton for the first Gold since 1995. Kia Nurse scored 20 points to pace the hosts. She was named the MVP after the game. Cuba jumped to a 22:19 lead after the opening quarter. But Canada responded with a 25:13 run in the second term to take a 9-point halftime lead. Canada erupted for 38 points in the second half and marched to the victory. Natalie Achonwa delivered 12 points in the win. Leidis Oquendo responded with 25 points for Cuba. Clenia Noblet had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
