Regular Season Round 11: Academia - Bucaros 92-93

Sixth-ranked Academia (5-7) made lots of trouble for leader Bucaros (12-0) in Montaa on Saturday. The visitors managed to secure only one-point victory 93-92. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 23-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Bucaros outrebounded Academia 32-18 including 20 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Horace Wormely (168-84, college: Vanguard) who scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Arnold Louis (201-90, college: Savannah St.) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Bucaros players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican Joel Rodriguez produced 40 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Dominican point guard Cesar Chavez Jacobo (196-85, college: St.Thomas, FL) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Bucaros have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Newly promoted Bucaros maintains first place with 12-0 record. Academia at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Manizales. Bucaros are looking forward to face Astros (#4) in the next round. Academia will play against Manizales and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
