Academia held off Piratas to take the lead in the playoff series. Piratas were ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 30-21 third quarter run of Academia. They made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Puerto Rican Joel Rodriguez stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and American power forward Donald Rutherford (203-87, college: Catawba) chipped in 16 points and 19 rebounds. At the losing side Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and American guard Brian Burrell (192-84, college: UTRGV, agency: Interperformances) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Five Academia and four Piratas players scored in double figures.
